Snip, Snip – It’s Upsherin Time!
Few things compare to the excitement of a three-year-old awaiting his Upsherin (well… until he spots the scissors!). This special milestone marks a beautiful transition, and it’s a day the whole family will remember for years to come.
You can customize this idea with your child’s hair color and any color yarmulka to make it feel even more personal and special.
You will need:
- small cupcakes
- yellow candy melts or icing
- fondant
- cupcake wrapper printable
- cardstock
Directions:
- Copy template onto cardstock paper.
- Wrap the cupcake wrapper around the cupcake. Secure with clear round label.
- Cover the top of the cupcake with the melted candy melts/icing. Dip a toothpick into the candy melts/icing and draw the side burns.
- Shape a yarmulke out of the fondant and place on top of the cupcake. Use some of the icing as “glue”.
- Using a knife, make a mark on the yarmulke in both directions to create a four section yarmulka.
- Draw an initial on the yarmulka using a toothpick dipped in the candy melts/icing.

Just made these for the 3rd time—for all my boys’ upsherins!! They’re honestly so easy to make, you can’t mess them up—and they look super cute every time! I’ve even skipped the peyos and the icing dip before, and they still turned out amazing!
So happy to hear!
